Movie Roll Call: What have you seen lately?

We should probably have a thread on "TV Series: What are you watching?" We do know these aren't movies, right?
Why haven't you started one and moved all the appropriate threads there already... lazy old man!

I’ll get to it eventually.

Done. But I only went back 4 pages.

I watched Project X. Had never seen a trailer for it so the movie was a total surprise. I thought it was hilarious, but if you’re sensitive to sexual situation, profanity, nudity, drinking and drugs… best to avoid. It’s like Super Bad but a bit more in your face. Funny stuff.

Also, watched Black Hawk Down in 4K HDR. GREAT FILM!

The flamethrower scene in that movie is absolutely priceless

Die Hard and Die Hard with a Vengeance, duh!

Klaus - can't believe that I've never seen this one before. It's actually pretty good and this is coming from a guy who doesn't care that much for animated Christmas movies.

Matrix: Resurrections
I really enjoyed this movie. It had a fresh take to the Matrix storyline and didn't feel like an old, tired, repetitive movie that most film sequels fall trap to.

Project X was hilarious! I’m amazed how far behind you are Todd. Almost like you have a life.

Saving Private Ryan in 4K and Whiplash in 4K... such awesome movies.

I've also started watching the Marvel movies I haven't seen. I've watched the Guardians and Iron Man flicks... but haven't seen the primary Avengers movies and some of the individual stories. So far, have watched the first Captain America, Thor, and The Avengers films.

Watched Captain America: Winter Soldier in 4K HDR

I liked this one. Good story, moved along at a good pace. Some nice plot twists. Sounded excellent. Stunning picture quality.

One of my recent upgrades from DVD to BluRay. All I can say is wow from both an audio and video perspective. I never get tired of this flick!!.

Definitely a good movie...maybe 4K worthy at some point?

the 4K has been out for a few years. It's a solid upgrade from 1080p, but nothing WILD

I bought that one in HD-DVD way back before they lost the format war. Very good movie but I don't think I'll be upgrading it.

Watched The Last Duel on HBO last night. I found it to be a pretty engaging medieval drama even with a relatively simple storyline.

We watched this as well recently and while the sound was good in parts, we found it to be a bit long and boring. I’d give it a 6/10.

The repetition kind of lulled my wife and I on this one. Having to see the rape scene 3 times was 3 times too many for my wife.

West Side Story (2021) - I was raised by a mother who played the piano and played the organ at church. She loved musicals and made us kids watch them as well. Out of all the musicals I saw as a kid, this one and the Music Man were probably my favorites. I’ve seen the original WSS probably no less than 10-15 times and I’ve seen theater productions of it many times as well. And this John Wick lovin’, Game of Thrones watching dope still wanted to watch this new one. Glad I did! I thought it was on point throughout and the addition of Rita Moreno in the cast was a wonderful touch. I was very surprised to see that this was directed by Spielberg!

My very biased rating is 9/10. If you like musicals, definitely give it a watch!

Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard - decent movie even if the storyline is a bit bleh. Good enough for rental or watch it on HBO like we did. 6.5/10

We rented Ghostbusters: Afterlife and enjoyed it. Definitely worthy of the rental price.

I’ve got this one ready to go as the first film in the new theater room.

Over the weekend, we saw "The Batman". First, I was hesitant due to the 3 hour run time but I must tell you, the time went very fast. Few scenes were slow but the vast majority were super fast. Second, I wasn't sure about the Batman being played by Twilight star but in the end, he did a good job. Overall, I was happy that I saw it. Good movie, not for kids. Way too violent.
