Movie Roll Call: What have you seen lately?

We watched The Adam Project on Netflix last night. Not bad and looked stunning on the big screen. Recommend!

Good recommend... I'm curious to check that out.

Watched two movies yesterday and recommend both of them very highly.

Nobody - stars Bod Odenkirk and was not what we were expecting at all - 8/10

CODA - CODA stands for Child of Deaf Adults. We found this one to be an outstanding story - 8.5/10.

Nobody was great. Coda is on the list.

The Matrix: Resurrections... Interesting, twisted, inside out story line... Most interesting to me was the way Lana Wachowski has grown as a Director and the cinematography that has come from her direction... I saw Lana dancing at the Interview with the Vampire wrap party...

Picking up Nobody 4k UHD tomorrow... The Accountant meets John Wick???

Kinda liking this UST PJ thing... :T

Watched Nobody in 4k UHD with HDR last night... I thought the story line was pretty interesting... Lots and lots of fighting and force on force action... My above guess about the Accountant meets John Wick was pretty close... A few touches of humor was a nice relief... However, the film grain VFX seemed way over done to me... Maybe because full 4k + UHD + HDR + PJ + Screen just pushed the grain VFX into my face...

Spiderman: No Way Home - enjoyed the movie for the most part but it had several scenes that very easily could have been shortened and some that could have been left on the cutting room floor. It was 2.5hours long and it could've easily been edited down to about 2-2:15. This is like my pet peeve with Hollywood lately - movies that are too long! 8/10 which could've easily been a 9/10 with some decent editing.

I’m all in on Team Bring Back the 95-Minute Movie.

I’m fine with 2:30-3 hour movies as long as there’s a purpose and not just fluff.

We watched this last night and can concur. I'd give it a 6.5/10. Not worth buying, but worth watching

Death on the Nile - quite the cast for this one! Maybe they could have saved a bit of money for the CGI because it was awful. It’s good enough to watch on the cheap (streaming on HBO) but not good enough to purchase IMO. I’d give it a 5.5 out of 10.

This is what we watched as well. I enjoyed Orient Express much more than this one. The new screen is up, but I haven’t done any real calibration to it yet, just ballparked it. Wanted to watch something big, but not something that we were excited to watch and waiting for the theater to be complete. This fit that bill perfectly.

The Batman - the Penguin, the Catwoman, the Joker, the Riddler, Carmine Falcone, etc. - throw ‘em all in a pot and see what happens! Loved it! Great film for testing your black levels. Even the Twilight dude playing Batman, which I was concerned about, didn’t bother me. I’d like to also add that as a person who loathes lengthy films, this one did a great job of keeping it all together and keeping us focused. I’ll be purchasing this one - 8.5/10!

Tonight we went to a local independent cinema’s “Secret Cinema” night. Sign up in advance, free admission, but you don’t know what movie is playing. The intent is to get people to expand their horizons and try something they wouldn’t normally have access to, or choose.
Tonight was an Indian film, Eega. Absolutely brilliant! Loved it, and loved the whole concept of the evening. I highly recommend the film if you can find it.

Whoa... reincarnated as a housefly to avenge his own death?

I just watched the trailer (
). Is it a comedy??

I recently fired up the HT after a long hiatus... watched Flightplan (which I enjoyed, despite the last 20 minutes stinking up the joint) and a flick that I'd never seen: The Devils Own.

I'm not a big Brad Pitt fan, but his actingin TDO was shockingly good. The film wreaks on Harrison Ford in the 1990s, but that's not such a bad thing in my book. Fun watch!

Doh... how can I forget... we also watched The Last Night in Soho. Highly recommend!

Watched "The Batman" with a group of friends last night... it landed with a resounding thud.

I give it 2 out of 4 stars... for me, was painfully slow and grinding, to the point that you begin to realize that nearly every scene has slow body movements and drawn out dialog. According to the Rotten Tomato fans meter, I'm in the minority on this opinion. But... phew... didn't land anywhere close to being good in my book.

I watched a 94 gig 4k Kaleidescape file... for anyone looking to buy the movie on disc, you'll be treated to a great picture and stellar audio. There are a few scenes that we'll see in HT demo reels for years to come.

I read that Batman 2 is green lit. It's probably going to end up being a hard pass for me.

It was a slow burn but I really enjoyed it. I went in knowing many people described it as Batman with a twist of emo. Different strokes I suppose?

Definitely different strokes!

If I hadn't been watching it with friends, I probably would have stopped watching 1/2 way through. Glad you enjoyed it, tho. I know tons of people have fallen in love with the styling and film noir approach!
